Opportunity to start the new year anew. Whether you want to quit smoking, lose weight, or spend more time with your family, the New Year is a good time to set goals for yourself.
But working toward these goals can be challenging – often, even the best-intentioned resolutions can fall by the end of the month. To set goals for this year, be sure to avoid these common New Year’s resolution mistakes.
1. Solve irrational
When the new year comes and everyone starts talking about the changes they are going to make, it is easy to be competitive and notice something unreal. Unrealistic goal which is to fall flat. Want to lose 20 pounds. This month?
Your New Year’s resolution should be something you can reasonably achieve. Too much shooting means setting yourself up to fail, which doesn’t give your inspiration any benefit. Think about your strengths and limitations when you set your goals.
2. Going without a plan
Acknowledging the change you want to make is a great first step. That doesn’t mean much, however, if you don’t make a plan for how that resolution will happen.

A year is a long time, and you may not have such a strong and convincing month in January. Maintaining your motivation can be difficult, but it’s the only way to stay true to your New Year’s resolution. Remember to reward yourself along the way, and check your results regularly for some positive feedback.
